SOLO SPRAY DECK FOR
PUFFIN SPORT, PUFFIN II, PUFFIN SACO, PUFFIN SARANAC, XT-16

The original deck for Puffin Sport folding kayak is gray with black trim. It is made of 150 denier (150D in the price list) polyester with a PVC coating. The cockpit is 29 inches long, and the cockpit coaming is aluminum tube covered in fabric. The cockpit supports the smaller Puffin spray skirt. The cockpit coaming folds for packing. This deck is supported with flexible fiberglass rods across the hull and will not support a deck load.

The removable deck allows the Puffin II folding kayaks to be quickly and easily converted from tandem into a solo kayak. The deck is attached to the hull with a Velcro strip all the way around the boat. The cockpit coaming is aluminium tube covered in fabric and will support the optional spray skirt. It is hinged at the center to fold in half for packing. The deck is supported by two flexible fiberglass rods across the hull at each end of the cockpit. This deck will not support a deck load. It can be easily removed to provide quick access to cargo.

The Saco, Saranac and XT decks are made of 600 denier (600D in the price list) polyurethane coated polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped rip-stop pattern. Color options are red or mango with gray trim. The cockpit is 36 inches long to make it easy to get in and out of the seat, and the cockpit coaming supports the larger XT spray skirt. This deck has a solid support structure built in, and it can support a deck bag. The new type deck is avaialble for Puffin Sport as well.

3-PIECE SPRAY DECK FOR PUFFIN II

There are two end sections and one center section. Each part is supported by flexible fiberglass rods across the boat. There is no cockpit rim, so no spray skirt is supported.

DOUBLE SPRAY DECK FOR PUFFIN SARANAC

Saranac decks are available for solo or tandem seating. Both decks are made of 600 denier (600D in the price list) polyurethane coated polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped rip-stop pattern. Color options are red or mango with gray trim. The cockpits are 36 inches long to make it easy to get in and out of the seat, and the cockpit coamings support the larger XT spray skirt. The decks have a solid support structure built in, and they can support deck loads.

FOOTREST

The foot rest has a comfortable inflatable bar across to rest feet against. The position is adjustable while on the water by a strap attached under the forward edge of the seat (The yellow band is only used to create contrast in the picture). The foot rest can be installed in both Puffins and XTs.

SPRAY SKIRT FOR PUFFIN & XT

All Pakboats spray skirts are gray, made of a waterproof breathable fabric. This fabric is very soft and comfortable. Pakboats spray skirts are cut to minimize pooling of water and each skirt has a mesh pocket in front. The skirts have removable suspenders as well as a draw string around the top.

Puffins have two different cockpit sizes. The original cockpit is 29 inches long and the smaller spray skirt will fit. This cockpit size is on all gray Puffin Sport decks, all Puffin Kayak 12 decks, all Puffin Swift decks, and all Puffin II solo decks. The 29 inch cockpit is also on all Arrow decks except the A14 double deck which does not have cockpit rims.

The longer 36 inch cockpit takes the larger spray skirt. It is on all XT kayaks and on all Puffin decks made for 2010. This includes new style Puffin Sport decks as well as decks for Puffin Saco and Puffin Saranac. The larger spray skirt shares the features of the smaller one. In addition, the larger one is reinforced with an aluminum rod across to minimize pooling of water.

PAKPOD DECK BAG/PADDLE FLOAT

PakPod deck bag/paddle float is simply the most functional paddle float available – and it may be the most functional deck bag as well. As a deck bag, the PakPod is of the well-known semi-rigid dome type, carefully shaped to avoid spraying water up at the paddler. It has a waterproof roll-top closure which provides easy access to its contents and makes resealing quick and reliable. As a paddle float it deploys quickly and easily. It gives much greater security because it stays secured to the boat until it has been secured to the paddle. The waterproof deck bag fits into folding and hardshell kayaks, and can be unclipped in seconds to be used as a paddle float. No inflation required, and no lost space due to carrying a paddle float.

PASSENGER SEAT

A kayak style seat with adjustable back support lowers the center of gravity and provides excellent stability and comfort. This seat is inflatable and packs very small.

PASSENGER SEAT WITH BACK BAND

Pakboats has designed a new back band seat for the XT models. Comfortabley padded seat is installed on lower (chine) rods. The seat features built-in inflatable thigh support for comfirtable seating position. The back band seat is attached to a spray deck and adjusted by straps.

FISHING ROD HOLDERS

Instead of developing a line of fishing accessories, Pakboats offers attachments for the popular Scotty accessory line. Scotty’s mount board has been adapted to clamp securely to Puffin gunwales.  The mount board can hold 3 items like rod holders, fish finder, or cup holder - in any combination.

SKEG

An optional Glue-on skeg is available. It provides improved tracking, particularly with flat-bottomed kayaks such as the Puffin II.
